MIDGETS HEAD FOR ARKANSAS IN 2 WEEKS; CONSISTENCY NETS CLAUSON “INDIANA MIDGET WEEK” TITLE; 5-FOR-5 FOR KUNZ/CURB-AGAJANIAN WITH 5 DIFFERENT WINNERS!

Spencer Bayston of Lebanon, Ind. is the new USAC National Midget point leader after his team “swept” the five “Indiana Midget Week” features this past week. He takes a slim one-point lead over Bryan Clauson into a pair of Arkansas races June 17 and 18 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis.

Clauson, of Noblesville, Ind., celebrated his third “Indiana Midget Week” championship after a trio of seconds, a third and a sixth. Clauson also won the title in 2009 and 2011.

The 12th “Indiana Midget Week” produced an unprecedented sweep for car owners Kunz Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian, who captured all five feature wins using five different drivers!

Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Calif. opened the action with his Tuesday victory at Montpelier Motor Speedway in the Parker Store/Target Bullet/Speedway Toyota. He led the final five laps after passing teammate Tanner Thorson on laps 26, then beat Clauson, Christopher Bell, Jerry Coons Jr. and Brady Bacon to the checkered flag.

Bayston earned his initial USAC National victory Wednesday at Gas City I-69 Speedway in the TRD/Mobil 1 Bullet/Speedway Toyota, leading all 30 laps to beat Clauson, Larson, Zach Daum and Bell.

Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nev. won Thursday’s race at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville in the TRD/JBL Audio Bullet/Speedway Toyota, leading the final 17 laps after passing teammate Ryan Robinson on lap 14. Clauson was second ahead of Tyler Thomas, Rico Abreu and Bayston.

On Friday, Bell, of Norman, Okla., passed Dave Darland on lap seven and led the rest of the way in his TRD/DC Solar Bullet/Speedway Toyota at Bloomington Speedway. Darland was second ahead of Clauson, Shane Golobic and Bayston.

Rico Abreu of St. Helena, Calif. took Sunday’s finale at Kokomo Speedway in the DC Solar/Abreu Vineyards Bullet/Speedway Toyota, passing Chad Boat on lap 22 and leading the final nine laps. Bayston was second ahead of Boat, Brady Bacon and Bell.

Saturday’s scheduled race at the Lawrenceburg Speedway was rained out.

KSE Racing Products/B & W Auto Mart Hard Chargers during the five-race swing were Darland, Golobic, Coons, Thomas and Dayne Kingshott. Drivers Bell (2), Abreu (2) and Bacon earned ProSource Fast Qualifier Awards.

USAC would also like to thank Simpson Race Products, Competition Suspension, Benic Enterprises and Indy Race Parts for their continuing support as heat race sponsors.
