CLAUSON 1ST IN PLYMOUTH’S “BOB NEWTON CLASSIC;” “HUMP DAY SUMMER SERIES” DEBUTS IN JUNE
The USAC Indiana Midget Championship made its debut last Friday night with the first of eight races on the 2016 schedule in the “Hoosier State.” Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind. picked up his ninth USAC victory of the season in the scheduled 25-lap “Bob Newton Classic” feature at Plymouth Speedway.
The race was called complete after 24 laps due to rain. Clauson wheeled the Cancer Treatment Centers of America/B & H Contractors Spike/Stanton SR-11 to the win over Tanner Thorson, Spencer Bayston, Carson Macedo and Dave Darland.
The series resumes June 29 at Plymouth with the first date of Plymouth’s three-race “Hump Day Summer Series” that features the USAC Indiana Midget division on a trio of Wednesdays throughout the months of June, July and August with each paying $2,000 to the winner. The three races are set for June 29, July 20 and August 31 at Plymouth.
The series’ final stretch of the season runs from September to October at Daugherty Speedway in Boswell (Sept. 10), Montpelier Motor Speedway (Sept. 17), Gas City I-69 Speedway (Sept. 30) and Kokomo Speedway (Oct. 14).
