9TH “INDIANA MIDGET WEEK” OPENS WEDNESDAY;

RACES AT GAS CITY, LINCOLN PARK, BLOOMINGTON, LAWRENCEBURG, KOKOMO

Five races comprise the 2013 “Indiana Midget Week” which opens Wednesday night and spans five different Indiana dirt tracks. It’s the ninth annual Honda USAC National Midget extravaganza.

Wednesday night’s opener is at Gas City I-6t9 Speedway, the only track which has hosted an event each year. Darren Hagen won last year’s Gas City opener and ended up winning the series title.

Thursday night’s race is at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, which hosts its fourth IMW event and produced a victory last year for 2009 and 2011 IMW Champion Bryan Clauson.

Bloomington Speedway hosts its sixth IMW event Friday night. Last year’s race at Bloomington went to Levi Jones.

Saturday’s venue is Lawrenceburg Speedway, where Hagen earned his second victory enroute to the 2012 title. It’s the eighth appearance of IMW at Lawrenceburg.

The series concludes Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway, also hosting its eighth IMW event. Kyle Larson won last year’s closer at Kokomo.

Indiana Midget Week opens the 2013 Honda USAC National Dirt Midget campaign. Since its 2005 debut Clauson has been the winningest driver, with six feature victories. Clauson, Shane Cottle and Tracy Hines have two titles, while Hagen and Coons each have a title, as well as Brad Kuhn, who split the 2010 championship with Hines.
