Gas City I-69 Speedway (Gas City, Indiana) – ¼-mile, semi-banked clay oval

 

EVENT:

James Dean Classic featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and 600cc Non-Wing Micros.

 

STARTING TIMES:

Pits open at 3pm Eastern, front gates at 4:30pm, drivers meeting at 5:30pm and cars on track at 6:30pm.

 

TICKETS:

Adult general admission tickets are $25 and kids 12 and under are free.  Pit passes are $30 apiece.

USAC AMSOIL SPRINT CAR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

Formats may be altered from base formats listed here at the discretion of the chief steward

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) laps to be run consecutively with the fastest lap counting as the official qualifying time.

 

HEAT RACES:

10-laps

8 starters per heat race

Cars finishing in positions 1-4 will transfer to the feature event if four heats are held. Cars finishing 1-5 will transfer if three heats are held.

Cars finishing in positions 5-8 will start in the semi-feature event if four heats are held. Cars finishing 6-8 will start in the semi-feature event if three heats are held.

 

HEAT #1:

4 Heats: Cars qualifying 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 25, 29 and so on will start behind invert.

3 Heats: Cars qualifying 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 19, 22 and so on will start behind invert.

 

HEAT #2:

Cars qualifying 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 26, 30 and so on will start behind invert.

3 Heats: Cars qualifying 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 20, 23 and so on will start behind invert.

 

HEAT #3:

Cars qualifying 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 27, 31 and so on will start behind invert.

3 Heats: Cars qualifying 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 21, 24 and so on will start behind invert.

 

HEAT #4:

Cars qualifying 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 will start in inverted order. Cars qualifying 28, 32 and so on will start behind invert.

 

C-MAIN:

If C-Main is run, the 14 fastest cars in qualifying that did not transfer through the heat races will line up straight-up in the semi-feature event.  The 15th fastest car in qualifying, and on back, that did not transfer through the heat races will line up straight-up in the C-Main.  Top-4 finishers in the C-Main will start in the last two rows of the semi-feature based on their finishing order in the C-Main.

 

SEMI-FEATURE EVENT:

12-lap Race

Cars finishing in positions 5-8 in the heat races will be in the semi-feature event if four heats are held. Cars finishing in positions 6-8 in the heat races will be in the semi-feature if three heats are held.

Starting lineup will be determined by qualifying time.

4 Heats: Semi-feature event finishers 1-6 earn a spot in the feature event.

3 Heats: Semi-feature event finishers 1-7 earn a spot in the feature event.

 

FEATURE EVENT:

30-lap race

22 starting cars (not including earned provisionals)

4 Heats: Cars finishing in positions 1-4 in the heat races will be in the feature event. Cars finishing in positions 1-6 in the semi-feature will be in the feature event.

3 Heats: Cars finishing in positions 1-5 in the heat races will be in the feature event. Cars finishing in positions 1-7 in the semi-feature will be in the feature event.

Starting lineup: Starting positions determined by qualifying time, fastest at the front, with fastest six heat race transfers inverted in positions 1-6.

Left rear: Hoosier

Right front: Hoosier

Left front: Hoosier
