GAS CITY HOSTS PENULTIMATE INDIANA MIDGET RACE THIS FRIDAY
Two races remain in the 2016 USAC Indiana Midget Championship as Carson Macedo clings to a 23-point lead over teammate Tanner Thorson.
The series resumes this Friday night at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway for the “Open Wheel Fall Fest” and a bevy of drivers still have title aspirations.
Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian teammates Macedo and Thorson are closely trailed by teammates Ryan Robinson and 2016 Gas City “Indiana Midget Week” winner Spencer Bayston, all four separated by just 34 points, while Justin Peck is 54 back of the leader and Kunz/Curb-Agajanian teammate Holly Shelton is sixth in the standings, only 62 behind the leader.
Davey Ray won the series most recent event at Daugherty Speedway in Boswell, Ind. back on Sept. 10. Bryan Clauson won the opener at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway in May while Thorson captured Plymouth’s June feature.
Non-wing sprint cars are also on the card Friday night along with the midgets, creating a must-see event for fans of dirt track, open-wheel racing.
The front and pit gates open at 4pm Friday night with hot laps set to begin at 6:45pm. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm.
General admission tickets are just $15. Kids 10 & under are free (with paid adult). Pit passes are $30.
