FARIA STILL #1 IN WEST COAST STANDINGS;

BERNAL WIRE-TO-WIRE AT TULARE

Danny Faria Jr. remains at the top in the 2015 USAC West Coast Sprint Car standings going into a June 20 race at Santa Maria (Calif.) Raceway. He has a 53-point lead over Ryan Bernal despite Bernal’s fourth 2015 victory last Saturday at Tulare, Calif.

Bernal, of Hollister, Calif., led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s race at Thunderbowl Raceway in the Tri-L Mandarin Ranch/Core Power ART/S & S. Faria took the runnerup spot ahead of Tristan Guardino, Bud Kaeding and D.J. Johnson.

The June 20 race will be the second this season at Santa Maria, Richard Vander Weerd won there when the series visited in April.

The USAC Southwest Sprint Cars resume action June 13 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek. Two-time defending champion R.J. Johnson enjoys an 80-point lead over Charles Davis Jr. going into that race.
