MARCHAM ANNEXES BAKERSFIELD MIDGET FEATURE

Trey Marcham, winner of Saturday night’s Honda USAC Western Midget Dirt race at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway, has an 18-point lead over Alex Schutte in the new dirt standings going into a May 31 race at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.

Marcham, of Oklahoma City, Okla., sped to victory in the Keith Ford King Racing Products/A & A Precision Machine TCR/Esslinger. He passed Sean Dodenhoff on lap 19 and led the last 12 laps to win the 30-lap race over defending series champ Ronnie Gardner, Johnathon Henry, Dodenhoff and Troy Rutherford.

Schutte sits atop the overall Honda Western Midget standings after the race in which he finished seventh.
