.25 “LONE STAR GRAND PRIX” ANNOUNCED

USAC’s .25 Midget participants can target October 5 as a red-letter day on their calendars with the announcement of the .25 “Lone Star Grand Prix” in San Antonio, Texas.

Hosted by the San Antonio Quarter Midget Club at its facility near Comanche Park on the city’s southeast side, the event coincides with the October 4-6 IndyCar Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by.the Greater Houston Honda Dealers.

Participating drivers at San Antonio will be admitted to and involved in pre-race activities during Sunday’s Houston IndyCar race and parents and other USAC members will receive special access codes for purchasing discounted tickets for the IndyCar race. In addition, IndyCar will include .25 Midget visibility at its Houston booths during the weekend.

Non-USAC-members will be allowed to participate in the San Antonio races, which will feature a format allowing all drivers to compete in A-Mains. No preliminary heats or lower mains will be held.

Pre-registration for all competitors is mandatory and must be completed by Wednesday of race week. A practice session is planned at San Antonio on Saturday morning prior to the racing activity.

The Lone Star Quarter Midget Club facility is located  at 2600 Rigsby Avenue in San Antonio.

“This will certainly be a signature event for our .25 Midget competitors,” says USAC’s Kyle McCain. “Coupled with the IndyCar race and with the assistance of IndyCar’s exposure, we look forward to what will most definitely be an exciting weekend for all involved.”
