USAC Ignite Midget activity finds three fronts this week, with races at Altamahaw, N.C., Lebanon, Ore. and Stockton, Calif. Saturday’s races are for the Eastern series at Ace Speedway, the Northwest series at Willamette Speedway and the Western series at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Four drivers earned feature wins last week in races in Indiana, Washington and California.
Ross Rankine of Willard, Ohio and Toby Alfrey of Miamisburg, Ohio scored the final two races in the Midwest Dirt Series at Gas City and Montpelier, Ind. respectively. Rankine won Friday night’s 20-lapper at Gas City I-69 Speedway after original winner Stratton Briggs suffered a car penalty, relegating him to last position. Katlynn Leer, Cooper Clouse, Adam Thomason and Sam McGhee rounded out the “top-five.” Rankine officially led the final lap of the race. Alfrey passed Clouse on lap 15 at Montpelier Motor Speedway Saturday night and led the last six laps to beat Leer, Clouse, Thomason and Cody Gardner.
Rankine ended up as the 2012 USAC Midwest Dirt Ignite Midget Champion.
Jared Peterson of Stanwood, Wash. scored another 25-lap USAC Northwest Ignite victory in Saturday night’s feature at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., leading all 25 laps to beat Chase Goetz, Todd Hartman, Ariel Biggs and Hannah Lindquist.
Parker Colston of Lake Elsinore, Calif. led all but the first lap of Saturday night’s 30-lap Western Ignite feature at Route 66 Motorplex in Victorville, Calif. Cole Custer took second ahead of Cory Elliott, Jet Davison and Michael Steele.
