So at the track last night I had a guy I hadn't really had that much interaction with prior to last night mention to me that he only stores his tires in a climate controlled area.  He said leaving them in the trailer or garage where the tempature goes up and down is similar to having them go through many heat cycles.  Sounds totally reasonable, but I hadn't really heard that prior.  Most people I know store them all in their trailer.  Before I put my marriage in severe jeopardy by building tires racks in the laundry room I thought I would get others opinions here.

Keeping your tires in your trailer, will do a couple of things to them, first it will harden the tire, due to the heat. Second it will dry up the oil in the tire, causing it to dry rot. We store all of our tires in our shop, so the wife dosn't kill me. Alot of people in our area keep there tires in there trailers. We don't have that many to unload every night so its not to bad. Ohio winters are the worst to store them in the trailer.
