can anyone tell me the range of horsepower from an "ok"motor to a "good" motor in both a gx120 and a gx160, we are fairly new to quarter midget racing and trying to upgrade for next year , just wondering what we should be looking for h.p. wise . our motors we have now are built by r motorworks , they seem to perform well , your opinions on motor builders ?

Don't get sucked in to the H.P. rating from a dyno it varies from dyno to dyno depending on the correction factors for the dyno program,  type of dyno
how hot it is in the room, humidity, is there a vaccum system hooked to the exhaust there are way to many factors to list. Find a good engine builder that your happy with and stick with him. He will hook you up with good engines

Let your engine builder "grade" motors on his dyno..  Look at who's top in points and talk to them about when they are getting out of the sport.  Those motors never make it to the for sale forum.

R-Motorworks engines are very good pieces. We ran one for two years and still have it in the trailer as a backup motor. They are easily on par with any of the other engines out there.
