Title: Bring back a real 100 mile race
Post by: unpaidbill on September 07, 2010, 03:45:04 PM
The new format is a loser.  Two 50 mile races (actually, one 51 and one 49) with an almost-inverted restart is a bummer.  Part of the race strategy is making the tires/fuel/etc. last for 100 miles.  It makes for a really boring event.  Bring back a real 100 mile race.  Please.

Amen! I have been attending the Ted Horn 100 at DuQuoin since the mid 60's. Sunday nights race was really screwed up by the lap 52 red flag. Lets go back to a 100 lap race where the stategy is to make the car last 100 laps and be good till the end. Come on this isnt a stick and ball sport with intermissions. Drop the green on lap one and the checker on lap 100, Lets Race

I attended the Ted Horn Memorial race at Duquoin and have been there almost every year since 1956 or 1957, and have seen a lot of good racing. I want the 100 mile race back again ! The mechanics job is set the car up to handle well, AND finish the 100 miles. A drivers job is to run as fast as he can, BUT keep the tires in as good a shape as possible to move forward in the last 30 or 40 miles. USAC, please don't copy NASCARs trumped up "safety pit stop" show ! - Thanks, Jan Stone.

Does anyone know why the IL State Fair race has not been rescheduled yet?  I don't know who to contact or where to write this question.  Thank you very much.
