Title: What Tires worked good at bellvue dirt races?
Post by: slowpoke on September 29, 2009, 11:28:48 PM
I was just curious what everyone ran for tires at the dirt races and how well they worked for you. I am planning on running the dirt series next year and was wondering if the A35 tires worked ok or if I really need to buy some D30's or would I be throwing my money away.

We used an old set of A35's at the Kokomo show and won the second Sr.Honda feature. They worked like a charm. The one thing we did notice is that they seemed to glaze over with a noticeable white hue after every race, once they cooled down. So if you do go that route, it's imperative that you keep them clean. But we cleaned them again and used them during a practice session on the pavement after the weekend was over and they worked better than they did before the dirt show.

So I can't say how the d30's worked, but the A35's worked just fine.

I also ran A35's at the first event and they worked very well. At the next event at Belleview I tried a A40 on the WF and that did not work. I then went to D20's for sunday and the car got very tight in the sun. Even if you did get a set of D30's they would last you all summer....even when they add more dirt races to the schedule.

i had d30s on in junior honda and was pretty fast. we won the first feature. i did run a d10 on the right rear and it still looks brand new so i would say softer is better.

Thanks for the responses I appreciate it, sounds like I could probably use either one and do ok. I think a lot of other handlers could see this and realize they can also run the Asphalt tires on the dirt so maybe next year the dirt races will be as big as the Gen. Next races have been. I sure hope Eldora gets their track built for us to race on by next summer, that would be another historic first for USAC .25 .I also heard that the Newton Park people were talking of building a permanent asphalt & dirt track at the park,is there any truth to this?
