Title: gen next columbus,oh Post by: rookiecheif06 on August 18, 2009, 05:18:00 PM I will be attending .25 race on sat in columbus,oh in sept. to check out gen next racing action. I will be new to the sport in aug 2010 when my son joey will be able to start racing. any advice on what I should be looking for on race weekends? also would be interested in checking out the pits on how teams work on thier cars and equipment, is this allowed during the down time between racing action? looking forward to seeing the .25qm gen next action plus the midgets sat night at CMS.

Generally most of the people in the sport are very helpful so poke around and engage some of the handlers in conversation. Most will give you more information than you will know what to do with.
Things I watched for when we went to the track for a few races before AJ started: Registration process Staging area/starting grid process Scale/Tech process Which cars were fast so I could seek out advice from those handlers. :) What most of the handlers took with them to the hot chute in case repairs were needed. General stuff like that... When you find yourself mounting tires in a hotel room at 1 a.m. you will know you have the sickness.

I have a hard time thinking anyone would turn away an opportunity to peak someones interest in the sport- we've got a great group of folks always willing to aid the cause.
Come find me and I'll be happy to provide any info I possibly can. Look for the cute bald guy w/ the shaved head and beard. I've got a small 6x12 trlr (that is for sale "buy" the way) and usually have an American flag hanging off the back of it. We generally park in the area behind the turn 2 stands. But when your right, your right! Keepin' that flag a flyin' and Seth's running the red, white and blue around the track as fast as he can. As for "Thunder" Cole and his bff, well the kid is only 5 (6 next Friday night) he doesn't know any better so I'll give him a pass for now. Regardless, if I can aid the cause in any way, let me know.
