Title: Tanner Throttle Linkages
Post by: ezoner on June 22, 2009, 11:04:08 AM
I have a tanner throttle linkage and am having trouble figuring out how or where to attach the plastic cable that the throttle cable runs through.  The linkage is in and works fine.  I run the cable through 3/16" plastic tubing.  I have a way to fix/attach the tubing on the pedal end, but not at the linkage end.  Would somone have any suggestions, pictures, etc...  I have broken 1 of the metal screws at the linkage trying to solve this, but I need ideas, and I am sure that people have figured out something.  Picts would be great of what others have done.

it just sets in that aluminum piece that screws into the housing.  I attached a pic from my phone.

Doesnt seem right but it works fine, 2 years without problems so far.  Just make sure your housing is long enough and not too long to prevent issues and leave room for sliding the motor back and forth.

Thanks -- it just didnt seem right.  As long as I attached the tubing back in the corner -- after routed to motor compartment it seems to be fine, but daughter was complaining see thought throttle was sticky.  I watched her work it in the pits and looked fine, so a sprayed a little silicone on the cable where it enters on both ends.  She says stickiness went away... looked the same to me..  I thought maybe the plastic tubing was moving around..... but looked fine to me -- even with motor running.

Thanks for the confirmation  --im not losing my mind at least --

I didn’t like the look of how it worked either but was assured that it was right and so far it has been.  The only problems we ran into is when the housing was too long or was binding.  Run it without as many curves as possible.  Also, ours came wound up so it wants to return to that round circle so I work it straight and if needed use a heat gun while working it straight.

I was told to NOT use anything on the cable or in the housing, keep it dry.
