I KNOW OF AT LEAST ONE CAR FROM THE NORTHEAST BESIDES US THAT WILL BE RUNNING A LIGHT MOD FOR BOTH ATLANTA AND NASHVILLE.SO WE NEED JUST ONE MORE CAR TO MAKE A RACE.HAVING A FULL FIELD WOULD BE GREAT,IM HOPING THEY GET AT LEAST TEN LIGHT MODS.

George Craker asked if I could could go out to Atlanta with him and Kyle to race.  I have a MOD motor but we couldn't get it to run at Motorama.  If I can get it straightened out I'm sure they would be interested in running it in Light MOD.  I also have a 1/2 motor I'm trying to generate interest in so that we can maybe run it.

I can give you some tips I hope they help
1. Switch on if the red light on the box is on the crank sensor is open
2. The red light should flash when cranking
3. check the battery I seen batterys with 12+ volts but not enough amperage
the automatic chargers are notorious for showing a bad bettery is fully charged
4.check the spark plug wire the resistance should be 10K per foot or less
I have seen wires that look perfect burned up inside
I assume you base lined your carb and replace the plug
I also have seen fuel filters air lock, the alcohol in the fuel expands when the filter vibrates and causes the pumper in the carb to not properly work, Have you ever picked up a sealed  gas can in the summer and when you move it it builds pressure same theory
Make sure your MSD is grounded properly ground the engine and the coil directly to the battery do not trust your grounds by grounding thur the engine and frame.
I will be at alanta if you dont get it running by then bring it and we can fix it there.
make sure you have a spare carb kit in the trailer just in case Good luck

Thanks a lot for the information.  I do find a lot of your tips helpful.  It had been a while since I ran the engine but it did run the last time it was out.  I charged several batteries before I started.  One the charger said was bad, the other two it charged (supposedly).  I tried starting it on a dyno I wanted to use to load it and set the carb before we went.  Well I couldn't get it to fire.  Checked for spark, nothing.  Took it with me anyway to put in my friends car (thought we could play with it some more).  Finally got spark using another battery my friend had.  Started it at track but it spit fuel out of the carb real bad so I put a carb on it I had run before.  It sounded ok but it never seemed to get up to speed on the track.  Driver said it went slower at full throttle and wouldn't take the gas.  Each time we leaned the carb out before going out.  It sounded better each time on the stand but only seemed a little better on the track the first time but slower the second time.  That's where we are at now.

Connor Gross will be at Atlanta and Nashville with a Light Mod.
cliff61 check your fuel tank vent hose to make sure it is not ground off and melted closed. We have seen that happen and the result was what you are descrbing.

If the carbs been sitting sometimes it will pull the rubber tip off the needle
for the fuel flow, think of a bad needle on a carb with a float bowl running over
same theroy, take the carb apart and check the needle and seat DO NOT bend the arm that controls the needle you need a popoff tester to set that. Check the voltage with the car running, Base line the carb top screw is high speed 1-1/4-1-3/8 open, botton is low side 1/4-3/8 open try that, do not force the adjusting screw tight turn it in untill it lightly stops mark the carb so you know where closed is and open it from there, if you over tighten the adjust screws you can ruin the carb. My settings will get you close, fine tune it and when you get it rignt mark the carb when your happy so you have a place to go back to if you have a problem.
