USAC REGIONAL RACING PREVIEW: AUG. 21-22, 2020

USAC REGIONAL RACING PREVIEW: AUG. 21-22, 2020

 

USAC RAPID TIRE EAST COAST SPRINT CARS

A Pennsylvania doubleheader is on the docket this weekend for the USAC Rapid Tire East Coast Sprint Cars.  On Friday, Aug. 21, the venue is Bedford Speedway for the series’ annual, once-a-year trip to the track.  Series point leader and two-time champion Steven Drevicki (Reading, Pa.) won the debut in 2018 as well as the series’ most recent event last Friday at Williams Grove Speedway.

The following night, Saturday, Aug. 22, marks the series’ debut at Port Royal Speedway, an annual stop on the Eastern Storm for the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars.

On Friday at Bedford, Semi Lates are also on the card along with Late Model Sportsman and Mid Atlantic Modifieds.  Gates open at 5pm ET, hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30pm.  General admission tickets are $12 with kids 12 and under free.  Pit passes are $25 apiece.

Saturday at Port Royal features a full program of 410 Wing Sprint Cars (double features) plus PASS 305 Sprint Cars as well.  Admission for the event is $20 for adult general admission, $10 for ages 13-18 and free for children age 12 and under.  Pit passes (all ages) are $30 each.  All gates open at 3pm ET with the drivers meeting set for 4:30pm followed immediately by hot laps and racing.

USAC WINGLESS SPRINTS OKLAHOMA & USAC WHOLESALE BATTERIES MIDWEST WINGLESS RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CARS

USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association is set to challenge the high banks of U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo. this Friday, Aug. 21.  Wyatt Burks (Topeka, Kans.) won the last MWRA round at U.S. 36 in July.

This Saturday night, Aug. 22, it’s a Border War challenge, Wingless Sprints Oklahoma vs. the Wholesale Batteries Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprints Cars as the two USAC Regional Sprint Car series clash at Enid Speedway in Enid, Okla.

Round one of the Border War Challenge between WSO and MWRA was held at Park City, Kansas’ 81 Speedway on June 6.   MWRA regular Burks collected the win that night while the highest finishing WSO performance was turned in by Waylon Weaver (Claremore, Okla.) who finished 4th.

On Friday night at U.S. 36, MWRA is joined by the winged sprint cars of the Sprint Series of Nebraska, along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Pure Stocks.  Pits open at 4pm CT, grandstands at 6pm, hot laps at 7:30pm and racing at 8pm.  Tickets for the event are $20 for general admission, $18 for seniors (62+) and military (w/ID) and children 12 and younger are free.  Pit passes are $35.

Saturday at Enid, pits open at 3pm CT on Saturday with gates opening at 5pm, the drivers meeting at 6pm and hot laps at 6:30pm, followed immediately by racing.  General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, military and students age 12-15.  Kids age 11 and under are free.  Pit passes and infield passes are $30 apiece.

USAC DMA SPEED2 MIDGETS

Will Hull and Seth Carlson have alternated victories between the two of them throughout the first four events of the USAC DMA SpeeD2 Midget season held at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt., host of this weekend’s upcoming series race on Saturday night, Aug. 22.

Hull (Plainfield, Vt.) and Carlson (Brimfield, Mass.) have each won two events at Bear Ridge this season, with the defending series champion, Hull, scoring the latest victory a week ago at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y.  Meanwhile, Carlson holds a 51-point lead entering the event.

A stacked lineup of racing will be on hand with the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, C.A. Miller Limited Late Models, Dirt Stockers, Peanut’s Auto LLC Four Cylinders and Granite State Mini Sprints also on hand.  Adult tickets are $12 each, $10 for seniors age 62+ and $2 for kids age 11 and under.  Pit passes are $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

USAC ENGLER IMRA SPEED2 MIDGETS

Four features have produced four different winners this season in USAC IMRA SpeeD2 Midget action at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill., which welcomes the series back this Saturday night, Aug. 22, for double 20-lap features with the second feature lineup starting straight-up based on the finishing order of the first feature.

Cody Gerdes (Eureka, Ill.), Bryan Stanfill (Brea, Calif.), Andy Baugh (Mason City, Ill.) and Shane Morgan (Creve Coeur, Ill.) have each basked in the glow of victory lane this year at Spoon River.  Meanwhile, Baugh and Stanfill are separated by just 33 points in the standings entering the event.

Modifieds, Pro Late Models, E-Mods and Hornets are also in action.  Pits open at 4pm CT, grandstands at 5pm and hot laps at 6pm with racing to follow.  General admission tickets are $15 while, for children age 10 and under, the price is free.  Pit passes are $35 apiece, and just $20 for those age 10 and under.

USAC MIDWEST THUNDER SPEED2 MIDGETS

The USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midgets return to Montpelier Motor Speedway this Saturday, Aug. 22, for the second time this racing season.  Aaron Leffel won the last time the series visited the Montpelier, Ind. dirt oval on Aug. 8, one of his series-leading four points wins.

Adam Taylor (Dwight, Ill.) holds a tight four-point lead over Jacob Denney (Galloway, Ohio) entering Saturday’s race.  Taylor won at Gas City, Ind. in July while Denney was victorious at Putnamville, Ind. in July and at Gas City in early August.

UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, Thunder Cars and FWD Compacts are also in action.  Gates open at 3pm ET with the drivers meeting at 5pm, hot laps at 5:30pm and racing at 7pm.  General admission tickets are $12 and kids age 12 and under are free.  Pit passes are $30 apiece.
