KT AIMS FOR “FUN AT FASTIMES” TRIPLE SATURDAY IN INDY

Kevin Thomas Jr. of Cullman, Ala., USAC’s 2014 National Midget Rookie of the Year will aim for a record third consecutive victory in Saturday’s “Fun at Fastimes” Twin 120s ProAm Karting event at Fun at Fastimes Indoor Karting Center in Indianapolis, Ind. presented by the Tony Stewart Foundation.

Thomas will anchor one of 10 teams competing in the event, which has been restructured this year to incorporate two two-hour enduros and two 20-minute shootouts to determine the champions. Teams will compete on the spectacular two-level “Fastimes” road course located at 3455 Harper Road in northeastern Indianapolis.

Thomas will be joined as team captains by Dillon Welch, Chase Barber, Nick Richards, Daron Clayton, C.J. Leary, Aaron Farney, Jimmy Parsons, Jacob Wilson and Jon Steed. Numerous other USAC veterans and other race drivers also comprise the team members. Former “Fun at Fastimes: Champion” Billy Wease (2012) is also expected to compete.

“This is our 18th year for this worthwhile event,” says USAC Benevolent Foundation Executive Director Josh Laycock. “This event and the Annual Womens Charity Golf Tournament held each May have raised nearly a half million dollars."

Former team captain or co-captain champions of this event include: Tracy Hines (1997, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008), Ted Hines (1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004), Kent Christian (2004 and 2007), Kevin Besecker (1997), Tony Elliott (1998), Johnny Parsons III and Stevie Reeves (1999), Dave Darland (2000), Dickie Gaines and Bobby East (2002), J.T. Stapp (2005), Levi Jones (2006), and Billy Puterbaugh Jr. (2007). Jerry Coons Jr. and Shannon McIntosh (2010), Bobby Santos III (2011), Wease (2012) and Thomas (2013-2014).

A drivers meeting precede the 11:00 pm green flag. Registration is scheduled from 10 to 10:30 am and the drivers meeting is at 10:30. Team pictures will be conducted between races.

Fun at Fastimes is located near the southeast corner of 96th Street and North Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis, Ind., one block north of the North Keystone exit from I-465, next to Woodland Bowl.
